UNIVERSITY CONNECT::REVIEW ON THE SICILIAN BY MARIO PUZO.

  • The book is not a sequel to ‘The Godfather’. The Sicilian is all about Sicilian culture and counts the story of a real-time hero, Salvatore Guiliano. This book is Puzo’s best in terms of writing and incredible characterization.

“So all die who betray Guiliano.” It is the thought process of the reduced people of Sicily when Salvatore also known as Turi becomes a bandit and fights against the oppression and redistributes the wealth, seized from the riches, among the poor. Turi has company of Aspanu, his childhood friend, and they both live in the depths of the life-saving mountains of the Sicily. Turi declares war on both: the government and the mafias which support riches. The book revolves around Turi and Aspanu while cornering away Michael Corleone who on the orders of his father comes to Italy take Turi to America.
